Leadership for Positive Change -
Meeting the Unmet Needs
of the Arabian Horse

Who is the Arabian Horse Owners Foundation?

For more than 50 years this tax-exempt foundation has been quietly seeking to meet the needs of the Arabian horse community. A list of our Board of Trustees can be found below.

Current Projects Include:

  • "A Gift From the Desert"
  • The Arabian Galleries at the International Museum of the Horse
  • "The Arabian Horse: The Ancient Breed"

"A Gift From the Desert"

AHOF is a sponsor of the international exhibition of the "Gift From the Desert: The Art, History, and Culture of the Arabian Horse." This will be the largest exhibition ever assembled to explore the Near Eastern equestrian history, displaying artwork and artifacts selected from leading museums and private collections around the world.

Planned for the summer and fall of 2010 in conjunction with the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, the exhibition will be accompanied by a documentary film and an academic symposium. The presenting sponsor is the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation.

The Arabian Galleries at the International Museum of the Horse

After many years of work and planning, the AHOF Collection will again be revealed in an 8,000 square foot addition to the International Museum of the Horse - The Kentucky Horse Park near Lexington, Kentucky. Interior design work is in progress and completion expected in late 2009. Exhibits will include the AHOF Collection and the collection of the Arabian Horse Trust. The building has been funded by the Purebred Arabian Trust from the sale of the prior museum facility in Denver.

There is an ongoing search for funds to complete the interior exhibition space.

See construction project progress on the web site of the Kentucky Horse Park at www.kyhorsepark.com.

"The Arabian Horse: The Ancient Breed"

This one hour movie for television was broadcast on Public Broadcasting TV stations to more than 90% of the United States during 2008. It will continue to be in the PBS catalog and will continue to be shown from time to time. We are now able to release DVD copies of "The Arabian Horse: The Ancient Breed" for sale to the public for $25.00. The movie follows the Arabian horse at all AHA competitions, trail rides, therapeutic riding programs, the Tevis Cup, ranch work, and personal stories. This is a testimony to the versatility and wonder of the Arabian horse and owners.
